The Maharashtra Road Transport Corporation has begun painting high-reflective, AI-readable lane markings using retro-reflective beads and thermoplastic paints in Pune and Mumbai. These markings are detectable by ADAS systems in modern vehicles, aiding lane departure warnings. During night testing, the markings maintained clear visibility and alignment detection under wet conditions. Authorities say this is essential infrastructure to support driver safety and connected vehicles. Expansion plans include 500 km of highways over the next two years.
